In 2007, Phoenix Art Materials entered the domestic market, introducing digital printing technology for canvas roll, and launching innovative inkjet canvas and digital stretched canvas，offering artists a broader range of creative options. A landmark achievement came in 2018 with the launch of the world’s first automatic production line for stretched canvas, a milestone that not only enhanced production efficiency and quality standards but also advanced industry technology. Beyond traditional hand-painted canvas, Phoenix Art Materials has successively developed digital stretched canvas and inkjet canvas, continually pushing the boundaries of canvas applications, solidifying its pioneering status in the oil painting materials industry. Reflecting on a century of modern Chinese oil painting, the art form has grown from a foreign “artistic language” into a vital genre amid expanding cultural exchange. Yet, many Chinese oil painters remain unaware or only partially informed about canvas materials—while the quality of pigments is quickly discernible, the superiority of canvas often requires time to reveal itself. For instance, many of Wu Guanzhong’s works from the 1970s now face deterioration, urgently needing restoration due to substandard, small-workshop canvas roll, resulting in cracked coatings and peeling paint. Through refined priming techniques, Phoenix’s canvas panels and canvas boards address this industry challenge, offering stretched canvas and canvas roll that withstand the test of time, reinforcing its technical leadership.
