Dai Yixuan is a master's student at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
The Internet gives people space to redefine their identity, but at the same time allows people to ask themselves what their true self is. Social media presents a two-dimensional, exquisite, and idealistic world. Online social networking is a flat social interaction, where everyone is transformed into a two-dimensional image.
Dai Yixuan's creations are mostly based on image-based paintings formed by modern imaging technology and mass media, focusing on the living conditions and spiritual world of contemporary youth groups in different contexts, and exploring the subtle relationship between people and society. Placing seemingly unrelated flat images in a virtual space creates a life stage that tends to nothingness, attempting to evoke a series of subtle psychological reactions in contemporary people, such as silence, sadness, and melancholy. The change of colors also implies the image effects of beauty and anxiety, brightness and gloom, which gives people unlimited reverie at the moment of revealing temptation.
