Payne’s Gray

Description

Payne’s Grey is a dark blue-grey color made from a mixture of ultramarine and lamp black, sometimes with Crimson. It was named in the 18th century. The pigment was created by water-colorist William Payne, who often recommended it to his students as a substitute for plain black.
