Payne’s Gray is a dark blue-grey color that is created by mixing Ultramarine, Mars Black, and sometimes Crimson. It was indeed named after the 18th-century watercolorist William Payne, who is credited with creating the mixture and frequently recommended it to his students as an alternative to using plain black
