Payne’s Gray
Description
Payne’s Gray, a dark blue-grey color, is created by blending Ultramarine, Mars Black, and sometimes Crimson. The color was named after the 18th-century watercolorist William Payne, who developed the mixture and frequently suggested it as a substitute for plain black to his students.
