Emerald
Description
Emerald is a bright and opaque green pigment that was first documented in 1822. Its original formulation contained arsenic, which is believed to have caused health issues. It is said that Napoleon was exposed to the pigment through his emerald green wallpaper in St. Helena, which may have contributed to his death. Today, emerald pigments are produced without the use of toxic materials.
